About Kara
Kara is an Indonesian coconut brand owned by Sambu Group, one of the world's largest integrated coconut companies. The company opened its first coconut oil factory in 1967, and in 1983 came the factory in Guntung, Sumatra, where coconut milk and coconut cream are made and packed with UHT technology under the Kara name.
The name Kara comes from “Kelapa Rakyat”, which means “the people's coconut” in Indonesian. More than 90 percent of the coconuts come from Indonesian coconut farmers, and Kara products are now exported to more than 80 countries.
